Budi Widuro earned his Bachelor of Laws in 2012 from the University of Indonesia, majoring in economic law. He advanced his studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in 2019 with a tailored curriculum focusing on corporate transactional law while also taking a business-related course at Wharton business school.
Prior to joining SSEK in 2013, Budi started his career as an intern at another prominent corporate law firm in Jakarta, where he was involved in high-profile capital market transactions. Following the completion of his LL.M. program, Budi worked at Fox Swibel Levin & Carroll LLP in Chicago.
At SSEK, Budi has been involved in numerous projects and transactions in the banking, insurance, mining, oil and gas, and shipping sector. His main focus is mergers and acquisitions.
At the University of Indonesia, Budi was a member of the strategic studies division of the Student Executive Body and a member of the Asian Law Students Association, a group with members from universities across Asia. While at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Budi was an associate editor of the Asian Law Review, a leading law journal for the discussion of legal development across Asia. He was also the LL.M. program representative of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA), the largest student-run affinity organization at Penn Law.
Budi is fluent in English and Indonesian. He is a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi), allowing him bar admittance in all judicial courts in Indonesia.
