SSEK Advisor Speaks at Conference on Fundamentals of International Legal Business Practice

Michael S. Carl, a foreign legal advisor at SSEK Indonesian Legal Consultants, was a featured speaker at a recent conference on \"Fundamentals of International Legal Business Practice.”

The conference was presented by the International Bar Association\'s Asia-Pacific Regional Forum, the IBA Young Lawyers’ Committee and the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi). It was held at the Grand Hyatt, Jakarta.

Conference topics included \"E-commerce: What legal measures to consider when a deal in e-commerce goes wrong,” \"M&A: Fundamental issues to M&A transaction” and \"Bankruptcy in Indonesia and Asian countries and bankruptcy law: Its application and what lawyers need to know.”

Michael was part of the session on fundamental issues of M&A transactions, which looked at the drafting of M&A transaction documents and best practices for conducting a legal due diligence of a target company.

Michael is well positioned to offer insights into the legal and cultural challenges of M&A transactions in Indonesia. He joined SSEK in 2004 and has nearly 20 years of experience practicing law in Southeast Asia.

Michael received his J.D. in 1994 from the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall) School of Law and earned an Indonesian law degree in 2012 from Atma Jaya University in Jakarta, graduating at the top of his class. He is fluent in Indonesian.
