SSEK managing partner Denny Rahmansyah recently sat down with researchers from Nomura Research Institute (NRI), the leading and largest think tank and systems integrator in Japan, to discuss the development of Indonesian data protection regulations.

Denny discussed the data protection regulatory landscape in Indonesia, including the data protection bill that is expected to be passed into law this year and personal data matters. He also talked about steps companies in Indonesia should take to comply with data protection rules, including privacy policies, reporting data breaches, and handling complaints over data collection and transfers.

Denny touched on Indonesia\'s strategy for international data flows and discussed the country\'s position regarding the Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR), developed by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and the European Union\'s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). He also looked at how Indonesia and Japan might cooperate in the future on the issue of data protection.

Denny\'s key practice areas are IT and telecommunications, including extensive experience advising clients on data privacy and data protection regulations in Indonesia, banking and finance, foreign investment, general commercial and corporate law, M&A, and real estate and property. Denny has advised a number of multinationals and Fortune 500 companies on data protection and data privacy issues.
