The Employment Law Alliance is offering a free 75-minute webinar on Wednesday, August 19, on “The New North American Free Trade Agreement: Significant Changes for American & Canadian Companies Doing Business in Mexico.”
The purpose of this new tri-lateral trade agreement is to help level the playing field in terms of total labor costs in all three countries. The agreement imposes certain liabilities on US and Canadian employers doing business in Mexico and will dramatically affect workers in Mexico and the ability to unionize their workplace.
Also joining the conference will be Matthew Levin, Director of the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Trade and Labor Affairs, offering his perspective.
This webinar will provide an overview of this agreement and offer practical guidance for US and Canadian companies employing workers in Mexico.
Topics to be discussed will include:
- Overview of key changes
- Strengthening Mexican labor unions and employee collective bargaining rights
- Enforcement mechanisms
- Risks and penalties for non-compliance
- Practical advice on how to implement new rules and workplace standards
