Charvia Tjhai earned her Bachelor of Laws in 2017 from Pelita Harapan University, where she studied business law and graduated with cum laude honors. Charvia joined SSEK the following year, after having interned at SSEK and the Indonesian subsidiary of a Japanese multinational pharmaceutical company.
Since joining SSEK, Charvia has represented major domestic and multinational companies in a number of transactions. Charvia has worked on a variety of merger and acquisition, payment gateway, foreign investment and e-commerce projects, as well as general corporate and commercial matters. She also has been involved in several tax matters with the firm’s tax team.
Charvia has passed the advocates exam and is waiting to be inaugurated as a licensed advocate. She has also completed her Tax Brevet certification and has assisted with appeals at the Tax Court.
At university, Charvia participated in various international moot court competitions, including representing her university in the global rounds of the 2015 Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot in London. Charvia was a member of the academic division of the Law School Senate, where she was the head of the committee for the Pelita Harapan Business Law Competition.
Charvia is fluent in English and Indonesia and has an elementary proficiency in Japanese.
