Dicky Tanjung graduated in 1998 from the University of Surabaya Faculty of Law, where he majored in business law. He earned his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in 2001 from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
Dicky’s practice at SSEK includes general corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, foreign capital investment, and dispute resolution and arbitration, with specialization in IT and telecommunications, and labor and employment law. Dicky is the head associate in SSEK’s labor and employment practice.
Dicky has been extensively involved in representing multinational clients on various acquisition and asset transactions in Indonesia. He was recently the project leader for two asset transactions by a multinational company involving the market leaders in the hygiene and pest control industries.
Dicky was co-lead Indonesian counsel for a Canadian multinational best known for developing smartphones, ensuring regulatory compliance for the client’s novel business model. He advised the client on various corporate, commercial and telecom regulatory issues, as well as assisting with employment law matters. His extensive involvement included meeting with the Indonesian telecom regulatory bodies and other law enforcement authorities.
Dicky is the lead associate in many of the labor and employment matters the firm handles. His recent projects include acting as primary counsel for a multinational pharmaceutical company devising and implementing strategies to ensure a successful employment restructuring for over 400 employees, which concluded without any challenges from those employees, a rarity in a jurisdiction where employment disputes and claims are common, especially during an employment restructuring.
Dicky has also led teams of SSEK associates representing a production sharing contractor and a jack-up platform owner in arbitration proceedings in Singapore under SIAC Rules and the Singapore International Arbitration Act, which culminated in victories for the two clients. He was instrumental in providing research and data support, managed external litigation counsel, assisted in the preparation of arbitration and district court pleadings and evidence, helped formulate strategies, and was involved in the arbitration proceedings in Singapore and the subsequent registration of the awards and their enforcement in Indonesia.
Dicky is fluent in English and Indonesian. He is a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi), allowing him bar admittance in all judicial courts in Indonesia. Dicky is an avid MMA fan.
